Uruguay Bilingual Education

Ago 2, 2019 @ 8:30 am - 6:00 pm

We have the pleasure to welcome you to Uruguay Bilingual Education

In its first edition, four well-known specialists will share their knowledge with all attendees.

The program is designed for teachers, specialists in educational psychology and managers of educational institutions.

Program for: Senior Staff – Coordinators – Legal Representatives – Teams of teachers. (Activity in the English language – without simultaneous translation).

As always the exchange between attendees and specialists will be vital to achieve good results, by sharing and assimilating knowledge to then be applied in the classroom.

The selected topics will share as a central axis the ‘Emotional Intelligence’, which is the driver of all the proposals of Foundation CEMAR for 2019 , closing the year of activities with the presentation of  Dr. Daniel Goleman on June (http://www.golemanenargentina.com/).

On this occasion, you will have a good opportunity to learn of different interesting experiences and share with colleagues from a wide range of academic institutions into a friendly and collaborative environment.

We are grateful to the specialist that will accompany us in this opportunity, for their support in this initiative and the contributions made for the creation of the program.

What skills and competencies do teachers and students need to flourish in a complex, interconnected world? When teachers provide opportunities to practice and model the skills of mindfulness, positive psychology and social-emotional learning (SEL), they are better able to respond to their own needs and the needs of their students.

  • Investigate research related to SEL and learn how to apply practical strategies that assist students and teachers in cultivating greater emotional well-being, perseverance, self-regulation, self-motivation and resilience.
  • Create environments that support authentic, mindful and caring communities of learning.
  • Develop practical approaches and learn how affective skills can be integrated into the teaching and learning experience to lead to positive, meaningful action and student agency

Attendees can enjoy a coffee break and visit our sponsor’s stands.

As teachers, Coordinators, Heads we give feedback quite often to our students and colleagues. Teaching and learning how to give and receive feedback in a more emotionally competent approach can make an enormous difference in our classes or working environments. Emotional intelligence is the basis for an effective approach to constructive feedback, as we develop how to establish relationships to trigger, enhance, support and maintain learning. Social, emotional, and cognitive competencies can be learnt and developed throughout childhood, adolescence, and beyond, but they need the support from others and the opportunities to arise. In this workshop we will be sharing some key tools to create a safe and inviting environment where feedback becomes an instrument to help our learners and colleagues grow in their social, emotional and cognitive skills and strategies.

Grit has been defined as passion and perseverence for long term goals. How do we teach kids how to stick to objectives?  Can passion be taught? How do I keep students motivated in the long the run?  Can we we fight apathy in the classrooms? How do we help them interweave resilience within the learning process? Cognition and emotion work together in a seamless, integrated way to help us persevere in a task. Thus, to teach grit effectively, educators need to help students cultivate both cognitive and emotional aspects. In this session, we will build knowledge on how to achieve this interaction, and we will shed some light on the importance of passion and perseverance in the learning process.Objectives- Participants will gain knowledge on:

  • The definition of GRIT and its intrinsic elements.
  • How grit is measured and why it´s important.
  • The most important findings of educational research related to grit.
  • Why passion matters.
  • The heart- mind connection
  • Essential elements of Grit.

How to develop grit- a hands-on  approach

  • Feedback one effective path to Social and Emotional Development

Digging into the biology of learning we will be able to teach english effectively with the brain in mind. In this workshop we will include 5 tenets of brain compatible learning. Through music, movement and collaboration we will outline classes that include critical thinking, meaningful content, emotional engagement and intrapersonal development.

Attendees can enjoy a coffee break and visit our sponsor’s stands.

To what extent are you considering the emotions of your learners? The human brain needs to feel emotions or it can’t learn. Emotions are not only the product of the processing of information by the brain, but they also directly influence processes of learning and memory in the brain. Different emotions cause the brain to work differently. In order for this to happen, we need to be able to recognize and name our emotions. Now, to what extent do we, teachers, recognize our own emotions? How do we make them visible to our students? How do we model our emotions so that students learn to identify theirs? Making out emotions visible to our students will enable them in turn to identify their own emotions. In this talk we will be talking about how we can make our own and our students’ emotions visible in our classes.

Interactive talk on how to make feelings and emotions visible in our lessons. We will share useful tools to put into practice as from day 1 after the seminar.

Closing ceremony, prizes, certificates.
